To address the shortage of skilled manpower in the food processing sector, the CSIR-Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysore, is organising a survey on the skills needed to be developed among people through its skill development programmes (SDP).
Although considered a sunrise industry, the food processing sector in India is plagued by a shortage of skilled manpower. With a view to address this specific problem through its SDP, the CFTRI is organising the survey.
To begin with, the programme intends to impart specific skills required by fruit and vegetable as well as bakery industries. The survey is in preparation for an SDP that is being planned by the premier research Institute, CFTRI Head of Information & Publicity P K Gupta said today.
Specifically, the programme will help gain skills in preparation of select fruit products such as osmodried fruits, jam, sauces, ketchup and, in bakery, preparation of products such as bread, bun, cookies, cakes, rolls and puffs.
In an inclusive planning action, the CFTRI invites food processing industry personnel and the public to participate in the survey on SDP required by the food processing industry. Interested persons can take part in the survey and provide their inputs. The survey is accessible at http://www.cftri.com, he said
